Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela by sea!

Have you ever thought that you would love to undertake The Way of St. James but for various reasons, walking several kilometres a day to arrive at Santiago de Compostela on foot may not have been practical? Due to recent new legislation/regulation, it is now possible to have a unique sailing experience where you will be sailing along one of the most spectacular and emblematic sailing routes in Europe - El Camino de Santiago - whilst experiencing a culture which goes back several thousand years in time. Recognised by the Cathedral of Santiago, this new route provides a minimum of 100 nautical miles (approximately 200 kilometres) for navigating pilgrims to reach Compostela and, in keeping with the spirit of the Camino, the last 10 kilometres to the Cathedral must be done on foot. From Hondarribia to Santiago de Compostela: 11 days sailing and 1 day walking with daily stopovers at 11 Ports giving a chance to learn more about Green Spain. This tour would enable participants to receive the Compostela Certificate.

We are currently in discussion with a company for a tour which would be by private charter boat for our Spanish Culture & Cuisine members, potentially taking place in either June/August/September 2019.

At the moment we are only looking for EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST and obviously there is no commitment at this stage. If you think this tour would appeal to you, please send an email to

Angela & Tony: spanish.culture.cuisine@u3ajavea.org.

We will be in touch with interested members with further information towards the end of the summer.

PAYMENT

Payment By Cheque

Payments of €50 or over can be made by cheque at the General Meeting to one of the Spanish Culture and Cuisine Group Leaders.

ASOC SOCIAL DE LA TERCERA EDAD DE JAVEA

and please remember to put the name of the Trip on the reverse of the cheque.

Bank Transfer

You can pay for Spanish Culture and Cuisine Events by Bank Transfer.

Each Trip has a unique Bank Transfer Code and you must use this code along with names and membership numbers of those being paid for as part of the Bank Transfer Reference. See Payment By Bank Transferfor details.
