Special Walks

Camino de Santiago

  • Pilgrim walk "Camino de Alba" from Javea to Almansa in 12 (easy) stages.
  • The total walk length provides the justification for an official Camino de Santiago pilgrim stamp.

This is a recent addition to the Camino de Santiago, and it is hoped that we can complete all twelve stages before the trip to Santiago itself in May.

Currently the following is organised for 2017:-

  • one from Jávea to Jesús Pobre.
  • the second from Jesús Pobre to El Verger.
  • the third from El Verger to Pego.

In 2018, the remaining 9 stages could be completed at approximately weekly intervals during March & April, with the final stage on 9th May 2018. This needs to be discussed and agreed with the prospective participants.

At each point, those interested can collect official Camino de Santiago stamps.

First Walk

So the first walk (Etapa 1) will now be on 18th October.  The general plan at this moment is as follows:-

  • Walkers take their cars to Jesus Pobre and park in the usual spot in the street of new but unoccupied town houses in time to board a bus which will transport us back to Jávea Port, leaving Jesús Pobre at 10:00.
  • The walk starts from the Jávea Port Tourist Office at 10:30.
  • The walk is 11km long, expected to take around 3 hrs.  There will be facilities to refresh water supplies just after the half-way point.
  • A meal is arranged in Jesús Pobre starting at 14:00. Restaurante Pedro, menu del dia, soup or salad, fish, meat or paella, postre or coffee, with a drink included.

There will be a charge for the bus, the meal and the passport for the Camino de Santiago, but the figure will not be known until the numbers involved are known. A deposit payment of €10pp will be required in the September General Meeting, balance to be paid by arrangement with Charo before 6th October.

Second Walk

The second walk (Etapa 2) runs from Jesús Pobre to El Verger and will be on the 8th November with similar arrangements to the first stage.  Charo will be taking expressions of interest at the September General Meeting. Further details will follow, and the payment for this stage will be due in the October General Meeting.

Third Walk

The third walk (Etapa 3) runs from El Verger to Pego, and is tentatively proposed to be on 15th November.

Charo will be taking expressions of interest at the September General Meeting.
