Jávea U3A

The President's Report (December 2016)

Well, Christmas approaches and the season of goodwill, good cheer, dining, dancing, consuming good wines has been embraced by our Jávea U3A members with their usual unbridled enthusiasm. Leading, inevitably, with resort to alka seltzer, gaviscon and to the gourmands among us, raw egg in Worcester sauce.

Kicking off the festive season was the Jávea U3A Christmas Extravaganza masterminded by our own Sally Wells. The Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir led by Philip Day opening the proceedings, followed by Phil Shepherd and his guitar group and then a really true to life production of Robin Hood and the final reclamation of Maid Marion's chastity belt key, to the relief of all.

In December, off we go…. Dine and Dance with Pat and Eric, Wine Appreciation and WAGs Too, Trevor and Sally, Spanish Culture and Cuisine Lunch with entertainment from “Duo Intermezzo”, Angela and Tony hosting, Solos on Sunday with Pat and Marion, various carol concerts and much more.

Your Committee has been in place for 9 months now and are standing again for next year with no opposition. This election offers no option of voting “NO”…….. You may feel there is no point in voting but your Committee work hard on your behalf for absolutely no reward except your endorsement. It would be encouraging, therefore, if you are satisfied, that you record your vote.

I would like to thank the Executive Committee and the wider General Committee for their help and support this year.

On behalf of the entire Committee I would like to thank you, our 1300+ Members, for their kindness, tolerance and friendship.

Merry Christmas to you all and we hope to see you back with us for another wonderful Jávea U3A year in 2017.

Eric Atkins
