Jávea U3A

The President's Report (November 2016)

Another busy month for the Jávea U3A with all our activity groups up and running again.

Just after the last General Meeting, I went to the Barn Dance at Venta de Posa and what a blast!! A great location, good food and drink and bags of room to “dance” (I use the word loosely). Our thanks to Shirley, Karen, Val, Graciela and to the band Los Rancheros.

A very successful trip to Valencia, I hear 2 coachloads primed for retail therapy. Thank you Travel Team.
Joni and Charo have a desk at our November Meeting to take bookings for the trips to Granada and Asturias next year. Just a few places left.

Sally Wells is whipping the thespians and trippers of the light fantastic and our musicians into shape for the Extravaganza in a week or so. The show begins with renditions from and Community singing with the Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir, followed by a performance from the Jávea U3A Guitar Group under the direction of Phil Shepherd, and, then our own wonderful cast. At the end of the show there are mince pies and sherry for all.

Thanks to Margaret March and Ian Rogerson, our facebook page is up and running providing the opportunity for interaction between Members and the dissemination of information. I encourage Members to acquaint themselves with the site.

Shirley King is organising the May Ball which will be at El Canor. Details will be announced shortly.

Nominations for the Executive Committee are still awaited, but in the interim Guy Marriott has agreed to serve as Vice President. He will be seeking election from the Membership for a full term in the March elections
next year.

In my last report for the Year in December, I will be urging all our Members to rejoin in January. At the reduced price of €5 it has to be the best value in town.

Finally, there will be a Cáritas collection on the way in. Please give generously . . . it's getting near Christmas.
