Jávea U3A

The President's Report (June 2017)

With the world in turmoil and recent events in the UK, we can count our blessings living here, or for those who come and go, spending time here in beautiful Jávea.

During June, Mike Frost took over 30 Members to the wonderful walled city of Avila. A great trip, I hear.

Angela Chantry and Tony Dearie organised a day visit to Manises and Barbara Gorrd has run a day trip to Orihuela.

Members have recently returned from Archena, Cehegin & El Valle Regional Park and I understand that photos will be shown on the big screen at the General Meeting.

Coming up in September, Angela and Tony have a day trip to L'Olleria, “The Soul of Glass” and Barbara Gorrod leads a three day visit to Ciudad Encantada, Cuenca and Zaragoza.

Congratulations to those who organise these trips for us!!

July sees the Not Just Folk Music barbecue at the Inn on the Green on the 4th and Shirley King´s Hog Roast on the 6th at Quo Vadis (sold out, I'm afraid).

I'm sure many of our Members will be going to the Jávea Players Summer Show running from 26th June to 1st July in the Pueblo.

John Deacon will be presenting some beautiful operatic arias sung by famous Spanish singers at the June General Meeting. This a first and I am sure it will be well attended.

Finally, once again we must express our sympathy with the victims of the Westminster Bridge and Borough Market attack and of the terrible fire in the tower block in Kensington.
