Jávea U3A

The President's Report (March 2017)

Spring arrives on the Costa Blanca bringing the amazing almond blossom, and in England I have delighted in the proliferous daffodils by the roadside and the new born lambs.

I was proud to present a cheque on behalf of our Membership for over €1300 to the Ambulance section of the Jávea Red Cross at the February General Meeting. Monies collected at Jávea U3A functions and from book/DVD swap and crockery hire during 2016.

Make a Smile is our nominated charity for this year … I hope we can do as well for them!!

We look forward to a terrific May Ball organised by Shirley King at the El Canor. A great band, DJ and cava and canapes and a three course meal with wine….all for only €30. What value!!

Angela Chantry was at her very best when presenting an overview of the international U3A at the February Meeting. Angela Chantry and Tony Dearie are now looking to plan a river cruise on the Guadalquivir river in April/May 2018.

Charo Brown will be collecting the balance due for the 6-day trip to Asturias at the March Meeting, and Barbara Gorrod will be collecting deposits for the Cuenca and Ciudad Encantado 3-day tour in September.

Don’t forget to bring your contributions for the Cáritas collection to our March Meeting.

Our Membership has topped the 1200 mark already and I expect quite a few more to sign up at the Membership desk this month,

The March Meeting is our AGM and the results of the election process will be announced by our Election Auditors Roger Berkley and Irene Charlesworth.

I look forward to seeing you on 29th March.
