The President's Report for July 2018

Hello Everybody,

I hope the heat isn't too much and you are all enjoying your thousand and one visitors.

I am in the lucky position of being is the Hospital, fully air-conditioned, full board and beds changed every day.  They even wash you!! You don't have to lift a finger.  Of course, it doesn't come completely free!  First you have to fall over, break a couple of bones, sustain a few bruises.  But after that it is first class.  They send a lovely limousine, chauffeur and maid, to pick you up, and transport you to the Hospital.  Where they put you in a state-of-the art bed, wheel you around to X-Ray a couple of times then to the theatre to have a broken femur replaced with another that hopefully won't break so easily.

Now with plastered arm, and dressings on my leg I am waiting for Recovery.  This comes in the form of a Physiotherapist who thinks it's amusing to tell you to do each exercise 2000 times.  I can now lift my right foot 12 inches and my left foot 2 inches!  Join Sit and be Fit!!

I have been here before and, trust me, the new hospital is far and away better than the old.

When I broke my right femur way back in 2003/4 I had a sister, husband and various relatives available; not to mention a few friends.

Now I no longer have a sister or a husband but in the meantime joined the Jávea U3A and acquired a lot more friends.  Sunday my room was busier than Piccadilly Circus!

If my thumbs needed exercise they certainly got it answering WhatsApp messages.  You have all been so kind sending Facebook messages and emails.

On a more serious note though, I live alone, I was lucky having my friends staying for a few days.  What would I have done if they hadn't been there?  I am going to find out about a 'panic' button.

Have a great SAFE summer!
