Jávea U3A

The President's Report (March 2018)

Two years … it does not seem like it … has flown by!
And now it is time to say “Goodbye”.

Just to mention some recent initiatives.

· On 18th April there will be a presentation by Guardia Civil Trafico in the Centro Social. Jávea U3A members will be joined by members of the Anglo Spanish Group, the Computer Club and Montgo Residents for this unique offering. Please support this event.
· Roy and Charo Brown have organised a series of Camino de Santiago walks - 12 in all - of which seven have been completed. There has been an excellent turnout for these sometimes challenging stages and the stamping of the passports in the ayuntiamentos of the various towns is just reward.
· Recently, groups for new disciplines have been started. I note particularly the Jávea U3A Questions and Conclusions (Debating Group) led by Kevin Sheehan, and Modern Sequence Dancing with John Pittaway as Group Leader.

My thanks go to my wonderful Executive Committee, who have taken the brunt over these two years, not forgetting the first Vice-President Geoff Woodward, who had to resign after six months or so for personal reasons.

Sheila Giacomelli is not standing again as Membership Secretary and I would like to thank her for her excellent work in a period of increasing membership.

And so to the Non-Executive Committee and all our volunteers as well as the fantastic group leaders. We owe you a debt of gratitude.

Finally, I shall miss the “bonhomie” that I have shared with our membership at large. You have made my presidency a pleasure.

I wish you all, and this terrific Jávea U3A, the best of fortune in the future.
I trust you will give the same support that you gave me, to your new President.
