Jávea U3A

Set " Jávea U3A Home" as your default page.

Google's Chrome is a popular internet browser. Chrome normally comes configured to go to one of Google's own Websites.

It is easy to configure Chrome to go to a Website of your choosing.

This is how to make Chrome go to the Javea U3A Home Page every time it is started.

  1. This assumes you are viewing this page using Chrome.
  2. Chrome allows you to have more than one startup page. The process below assumes you want only one startup page defined, that for Jávea U3A Home Page.
  3. Click on the Customize Button (in the top right hand corner of the window).

  4. On the dropdown menu, click on the Settings item (normally near the bottom of the menu).
  5. This will cause the following page to be displayed in another tab. These instructions will still be available on the original tab and you can switch between them. (Alternatively, you could print this page before starting).
  6. Click on the Set pages link (just above "Appearance").
  7. This will cause a small window to be displayed in the middle of the page.

  8. The current startup page will be displayed (in place of old-home-page in the above example).
  9. Click on the current startup page and then delete it by clicking on the X at the end of the line
(not the one in the corner of the window!).
  10. The window will now look like the following:

  11. Type www.u3ajavea.org into the box containing "Enter URL..."
to end up with something like this:

  12. Then press OK. This will return you to the Settings page.
  13. You are now finished. Easy!!!
  14. To check that it has worked properly, close down Chrome and restart it.
It should go straight to the Jávea U3A Home Page.

There are many versions of Chrome in common use. The process above should work for all versions although the detailed layout within the dialog box may vary slightly from that pictured above.
