Jávea U3A

 Internet
Explorer

Set " Jávea U3A Home" as your default page.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer is the most widely used internet browser (because it comes with the system). Internet Explorer normally comes configured to go to one of Microsoft's own Websites, which is not of interest or of use for most people.

It is easy to configure Internet Explorer to go to a Website of your choosing.

This is how to make Internet Explorer go to the Javea U3A Home Page every time it is started.

  1. This assumes you are viewing this page using Internet Explorer.
  2. Scroll this page so that you can see all of the (numbered) instructions (at least 6-9).
  3. Find the Tools menu item at the top of the screen and click on the little black triangle to the right of it.
  4. On the dropdown menu, click on Internet Options item (normally at the bottom of the menu).

  5. This will cause the following dialog box (window) to be displayed on top of this page. Once this is displayed you will not be able scroll the instruction page, although you can still move the dialog box around to see the instruction page underneath. (Alternatively, you could print this page before starting).

  6. It is usually displayed with the General tab selected, but if it isn't, click on the General tab to make the dialog box look like that to the right.

  7. Type www.u3ajavea.org into the Home Page text box as shown highlighted.

  8. Press Apply and the prefix "http://" will automatically be added to the front of it.

  9. Then press OK. You have now finished. Easy!!!!

  10. To check that it has worked properly, close down Internet Explorer and restart it.

It should go straight to the Jávea U3A Home Page.

There are many versions of Internet Explorer in common use. The process above should work for all versions although the detailed layout within the dialog box may vary slightly from that pictured above.
