Set " Jávea U3A Home" as your default page.

Every time you start up an Internet Browser (whether it be Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.) it will go to the same default Website. It is easy to configure your browser to go to a Website of your choosing.

Alternatively, it is also very easy to add an icon on the desktop background which goes automatically to a specific Website.

Configuring the Default Start page.

This section will describe how to configure your internet browser to always go to the Jávea U3A Home Page every time it is started (i.e. www.u3ajavea.org). The instructions vary slightly from browser to browser, so below, we describe what needs to be done for each of the most popular Internet Browsers. It is easy!!!!

Internet Explorer

Microsoft's Internet Explorer is the most widely used internet browser.
(Because it comes with the system!).

Google's Chrome is a popular internet browser. Chrome normally comes configured to go to one of Google's own Websites.

Creating a Desktop Icon for the Jávea U3A Home Page

Many people like to have Desktop Icons setup for their most commonly used applications and Websites.

The sequence below describes how to setup a Desktop icon to access the Jávea U3A Home Page. Note this will use the Internet Browser currently defined as your Default Internet Browser.

  1. Rigth click on any empty space on your Desktop (i.e. on the background picture on your screen). Make sure it is empty (i.e. make sure there is not an icon at the point where you right click).
  2. On the dropdown menu that appears, click on New (usually near the bottom of the menu).
  3. This will result in another menu being displayed and you should click on Shortcut (usually near the top of the second menu).
  4. This will result in the following dialog box (window) being displayed:



  5. Type into the textbox www.u3ajavea.org.
  6. Press Next.
  7. This will result in the following dialog box being displayed:



  8. Type Javea U3A into the textbox.
  9. Press Finish.
  10. The system will now create an icon on your desktop something like:

    This icon will start Internet Explorer because it was created on a system
    where Internet Explorer was the default Internet Browser.
