Calling Notice   for the General Meeting
to be held on Wednesday 25th April from 9:30.

Guest Speaker

This month's guest speaker is Jana Petkin, a local author and multi award winning best seller of historical fiction.

Jana has been in the Royal Navy, been a Travel representative, a body guard for a Saudi Princess and a member of a cabin crew for British Airways. She has written a number of books and now lives in Dénia.

Membership Renewals & New Members

The Membership Desks will be taking renewals and new members.

The renewal fee is €10 for those who were members in 2017. Otherwise it is €20, as it is for new members.

If you did not renew by the end of February, then you will be unable to participate in any group activities until you renew.

The desks will open at 09:30 & close promptly at 10:30.

DVD and Book Swap

The DVD and Book Swap tables will both be available in the foyer.

If you have any DVDs or books that you would like to exchange for something different, come along and see what we have.

If you have any DVDs that you no longer need, please bring them along to the Parador Meeting.

All profits go to our nominated charity.

Summer Ball

Shirley and Jill  will be taking bookings for this year's Summer Ball including menu selections and table requests.

Booking / Paying for Activities

This Meeting is your time to book and pay for the activities currently on offer by the Jávea U3A.


Charo  will be collecting

  • the final payment (€275 + single supp) for the Galicia trip for people who cannot pay via bank transfer,
  • the final chance to join the Asturias trip.

Sue  will be collecting

  • bookings and payment for the Tabarca day trip in June,
  • bookings and payment for the day trip to Alicante in June.

Barbara will be

  • collecting bookings and a deposit (€50) for the trip to Benidorm in October,
  • collecting bookings and payment for the Gandia trip in April,
  • giving out Saga booking forms for the Costa Brava trip in September/October.

Karen will be

  • selling tickets for the coach to/from the Summer Ball.

Camino de Santiago

Charo  will be

  • collecting names and the deposit (€100) for stage 12 of the walk, along with the names of any non-walkers who wish to come on the overnight trip.

Spanish Culture & Cuisine

Angela & Tony  will be collecting

  • payment for Get-together lunch for the Guadalquiver River Cruise.
  • payment for Social Get-together lunch following the History of Xabia talk.
  • the 2nd payment for the Douro River Cruise.

Quiz Night

The next Quiz Night is on Thurs 17th May when David & Anne Watts will be presenting a music quiz.

Spanish Culture & Cuisine

The group will be holding a lunch in the plaza immediately after the A Brief History of Xàbia presentation in the Casa Cultura. This will take place on Weds 6th June.

Jávea U3A Summer Ball

This year's Summer Ball will be held at Salones Canor on Saturday 16th June.

A coach has been booked, picking up at Interiors at 18:00, then at the new Mas y Mas (Arenal), and Mas y Mas (Benitachell).   The cost will be €10.  We will leave Salones Canor at 23:45.  Please pay at the April General Meeting.

Galicia Trip. An opportunity

Due to a cancellation, two places (one double room) have become available on the Galicia trip on 24th-29th May. Anyone interested should immediately contact the trip organiserCharo.

The Arts Society Marina Alta present Painting with Light on 3rd May.

The English Choir of Teulada-Moraira with performances of LEGENDS on the 4th & 5th May.

The Blues Brothers and Sister Act  tributes bands on 13th May.

The Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir  with two Concerts at the Cave on 15th & 16th June in Benidoleig.

Gandia Trip - April

Due to the conducted tour being more expensive than anticipated, could the people who originally paid €15, please pay an extra €3 at the April General Meeting. We would appreciate the correct amount.

History Group

The next meeting of the History Group will be on 8th May when Mike Rendell  will give a talk on "Pride and Prejudice": from Printed Word to the Silver Screen.  See History for more details, including a synopsis of the talk.
